Take a Crap on Someone Else’s Lawn

Working in the Food Industry is no easy task. Luckily i don’t have to actually prepare the food. Although, that might be a little less mind-racking than working directly with the customers. You’ll always have the customer that complains about the temperature. When it’s hot outside, it’ll never be cool enough inside. When it’s cold outside, it’ll never be warm enough.

Then you’ve got those customers that just love to hear themselves talk.  It’s like, “Yeah, i asked you how your day was to be polite and courteous. It’s not that I don’t care about how sick Fluffy is and how he hasn’t been eating his food like he used to, it’s just that i have problems of my own. Which i don’t openly share with you every time you ask how i’m doing today.

Yesterday, a customer ordered from our specials menu, Chicken Breast, stuffed with spinach and feta cheese along with a side salad. Sounds great, except for the slight fact that the chicken was ACTUALLY stuffed with broccoli and cheese today. The waitress didn’t know this. The cook’s should have told her, but they didn’t. So they lady cuts into the chicken to reveal what she had least expected, the broccoli and cheese. She called the waitress over and complained. The waitress apologized and asked if she’d like something else instead. No, that wasn’t good enough. She wanted to take the chicken home, not pay for it, and have a different meal, while only paying for the new meal. I’m sorry, it doesn’t work that way.

So I politely explained to her the situation, apologized for the mistake in the specials menu and told her we would gladly give her something else in exchange but if she wanted to keep both, she would have to pay for both. I don’t believe i was rude whatsoever. She got pissed off, stated that we were only going to throw away the chicken anyway and said that it was “Lousy” that I didn’t apologize FIRST before explaining the situation.

Yeah, go ahead, make ME out to be the bad guy…sorry, it’s not going to work. Needless to say she was extremely pissed that she didn’t get her own way.  Lady, do me a huge favor….go eat somewhere else. All you do is complain. Nothing is ever good enough for you. We don’t need customers like you….Go attempt to have sexual intercourse with yourself, for lack of better terms.

I don’t know how you do it, people get downright nasty when it comes to the food industry. I’ve never worked in it, but I know well enough that hungry people coming to a place to eat can be like rabid animals at times. Hunger + kindness = not mixing most of the time.

I went to a restaurant yesterday and this guy FLIPPED out and screamed at the top of his lungs for almost a half and hour in front of everyone because he and his family didn’t get seated. He had a party of 6, they would have been seated at different tables, PLUS, that isn’t even the issue, it’s the issue that these people were out of town and didn’t know if you go to this restaurant, on a Friday, you will have a 30-35 min. wait at least.

I was real close to just walking up to him and telling him to shut the hell up and go someplace else myself and take some provac.
